Jeep Brakes and Components

The braking system on your Jeep is one of the most important and often most overlooked systems on our rigs. Even if your Jeep is an Offroad only rig, stopping power is of utmost importance and brake failure can lead to severe consequences.

You should inspect your brake system before and after each offroad trip to ensure all brake lines are free of kinks and there are no leaks in the system. Your brake peddle should be firm, not like a sponge. Brake fluid should be clear, not cloudy. Refer to your Jeep owners manual for proper maintenance and procedures on servicing.

When modifying your Jeep and swapping in new axles, you must take your braking system into account. This includes, but not limited to, the master brake cylinder, brake calipers, swapping from rear brake drums to disk brakes, brake pad selection, brake rotor selection, proportioning valves, etc... there are too many to cover on this page, but we will have a dedicated page on our Jeep Mods section.
